The project involves transmission of water supplied from Ash - Shuqaiq Desalination Plant on the Red Sea coast, by three transmission systems to Abha, Ukad, Al Bin Numan and Ahad Rafidah Areas. The scope covers engineering, procurement, construction and one year maintenance of pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs and housing compounds including HVAC, electrical, tele-control, command and telecommunication systems.

The project is one of the major accomplishments of Tekfen in Saudi Arabia.

1. Shuqaiq - Abha (SA)
Pumped system consisting of 42 x 102 km cement mortar lined steel pipeline with cathodic protection, 4 pumping stations (2,7 MW, 6,9 MW, 2 x 6 MW) and 2 x 50.000 m3 capacity terminal reservoirs at 2.297 m altitude located at Abha. The maximum flow capacity of this section is 7.700 m3 / hr.

2. Abha Metropolitan Area (AM)
Gravity system consisting of 42 x 49 km main cement mortar lined steel pipeline, 20 x 29 km concrete pipeline and two reservoirs of 50.000 m3 and 8.000 m3 capacities located at Al Bin Numan and Ahad Rafidah.

3. Shuqaiq - Ukad (SG1)
Pumped system consisting of 36 x 35 km cement mortar lined steel pipeline with cathodic protection, booster section of PS1 pumping station and a reservoir with 20.000 m3 capacity at Ukad.

The project consists of 8 tunnels passing Al-Sarwat Mountains, 10 km in length and 2,8 m in width. There are 3 bridges with a total length of 187 m.

The project also includes the HVAC, electrical, tele-control, command and telecommunication systems.

A housing compound consisting of two villas, two apartment blocks with eight flats, a guesthouse and a mosque are also included within the work scope.

Also in the project were 2 railway crossings (each 30 m) and 1 road crossing (25 m).
