Qatar’s main oil wells are located on the west part of the country, called Dukhan Area. The oil, from this area, is transported to Mesaieed Refineries in the southern part of the country.
The newly constructed crude oil pipeline is 80 km long and has a diameter of 20". It is an above ground pipeline on sleepers tied with anchor blocks. Pig launcher and receiver facilities are also in the project scope.
Also de-oiling and demolishing works of 62,5 km long old pipeline is part of the scope. De-oiling works are completed in May 2008.
Another part of the scope is upgrading 3 existing crossover stations that will be used in case of emergency. Emergency Shut Down Valves will be installed in these crossovers to stop oil flow in case of necessity.
Main scope can be described as:
20" x 80 km (aboveground)
16" x 62,5 km (De-oiling & demolishing of existing pipeline)
Upgrading of 3 existing Cross-over Valve Stations
