KSA Al Khobar (Al Aziziah) Desalination Plant has sea water treatment capacity of 432.000 m3 / day.

Eastern Province Water Transmission Project transmits and distributes the increased (desalinated) sea water capacity to the cities of Al Khobar, Dhahran, Dammam, Qatif, Sayhat, Safwa and Ras Tanurah.

The EPC project comprises of approximately 127 km of PE coated and CM lined carbon steel pipeline, diameters ranging from 24” to 60” with 7 underground Line Valves, 80 Drain & Vent and 70 Cathodic Protection Stations, modification of 7 Blending Stations and Expansion of Al Aziziah Pump Station.

The project’s scope covered basic / detail design and engineering works, procurement of the pipes, equipment and consumables, all construction activities including electrical and instrumentation works, control and SCADA systems.

Main components of the project also include:

Installation of 3 new pump units each 850 kW. Design and erection of a 1.200 m3 surge vessel plant,
2 Units of 15,75 kV / 6,6 kV / 30 MVA substations with 15,75 kV / 1.200 kA Switchgear System,
Control Center connecting the power, pumping, valve and blending stations by a Fiberoptic Telecommunication System in full automation.
