The Chiraq Offshore Oil Field is located 120 km south-east of Baku in the Caspian Sea. The platform was commissioned in November 1997. In order to maintain reservoir pressure a water injection system was designed and installed at the “live” platform.

The project scope covers fabrication of 150.446 t of steel piping, 916 m of GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy) Piping and 255 t of structural steel for Chiraq-1 Water Injection Module of AIOC.

The water injection system has capacity of 220.000 bwpd at a pressure of 32.000 kPa and the designed system is within the 600 t total weight limit.

Fabrication and assembly scope of work consists of the following items

Material handling and management of storage facilities and all associated plant and equipment,
Establish and maintain a program for onshore fabrication and assembly works, comprising a three level program with 3.222 activities,
Produce welding qualification specifications; apply various systems including “Gas Shielded Flux Core Arc Welding”,
Special training for GRE piping installation.
Fabrication pipe spools, including carbon steel and galvanized steel. Fabrication of GRE spools,
Fabrication of supporting steel,
Fabrication of structural steel including equipment base frames,
Installation of Turbine and Pumps (2 x 47 t) on the module structure,
Installation of LER (16 t) on the module structure,
Installation of heat exchanger and shut down valves on the module, fabrication of turbine exhaust tower, Installation of turbine inlet and outlet ductwork on the module & supply of manpower for offshore installation works and onshore electrical instrumentation works,
Quality Assurance and Control of the onshore fabrication works and preparation of the fabrication certifications. The repair rates for carbon steel welding and structural steel were 0,44% and 2,10% respectively while no repair was necessary for GRE pipes,
Stress relieving of the heavy wall pipe-work, hydro-testing and painting of all steel surfaces, preparation and submission of all testing and fabrication certificates,
Offshore installation & assembly of fabricated spools and structural steel.
