Azerbaijan Early Oil Transportation Project aims to transport the crude oil of Guneshli and Chiraq fields of the Caspian to Sangachal Terminal located approximately 50 km south of Baku.

Tekfen undertook major responsibilities within this scheme.

The works covered by Tekfen within this scope were executed under three separate contracts;

1- Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation Works of the Sangachal Terminal (Job No: 207, US$ 4.590.000)

Tekfen’s scope covered all electro-mechanical works including the erection of equipment, inter-equipment connections, electrical and instrumentation works, painting and miscellaneous activities to complete the terminal.

Civil works were not in the scope of Tekfen and carried out by other companies. The equipment and bulk material were free-issued by the client.

Engineering works of the project were under the responsibility of Brown & Root, while Fluor Daniel - UK had overtaken technical consultancy until the signing of the contracts.

2- Storage Tanks (Job No: 202, US$ 6.603.700)

Design, engineering, procurement, fabrication and erection of 4 Floating Roof Crude Oil Tanks with 25.500 m3 capacity each. Design and construction of tank foundations were carried out by other companies.

3- Offspec Oil Storage Tank (Job No: 206, US$ 366.000)

Engineering, procurement, fabrication and erection of 2.400 m3 Offspec Tank at Sangachal Terminal. Foundations were not in Tekfen’s scope.

The steel material for tanks was mainly purchased from Turkey. Prefabrication works were subcontracted to SPS, an affiliated company of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic).
